Day Five - A Long Slog

By far the hardest day so far. Packing up the damp tent after barely any sleep on the back of yesterdays 135km is grim. We pack up and crack on...

Really hot again, not much shade, hard to find enough water.

Biking through miles of what we think is a huge hops farm. Are we right?

Just as energy is running at its lowest, we come off the track and back on to Danube at Weltenberg earlier than expected. Enough time for a dip in the warm fast flowing water, absolute bliss.

We take a short boat ride from Weltenberg to Kelheim through the impassible limestone gorge, fantastic scenery. We keep passing two French guys doing the euro route 6 and owe them a beer after they subsidised our ferry fare. Remember to take more cash out!

Spend the night in Kelheim, small but nice room, fantastic meal and a few deserved beers.
